Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah and women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur unveiled India’s new ODI jersey at the board headquarters in Mumbai on Friday, November 29. The unveiling was done ahead of India’s departure to Australia for a three-match ODI series, starting December 5.
The new jersey has a tri-colour gradient on the shoulders, which is a change from the previous version which had only the iconic three stripes in whites.
Harmanpreet Kaur confirmed that the Indian women’s team will first wear the new ODI jersey when they take on the West Indies in a three-match ODi series from December 22 to 27 in Vadodara.
“It’s an honour to unveil the jersey today. It’s a really proud feeling that we will be the first ones to wear the jersey against the West Indies,” Harmanpreet Kaur said in a video shared by the BCCI.
“I am really happy. I like the look. The tri-colour on the shoulders is looking really beautiful. Happy that we have got a special ODI jersey,” she added.
India women’s team will play 3 ODIs in Australia before returning to India to take on the West Indies in 3 T20Is and as many ODIs in December.
Since getting sports apparel manufacturer Adidas as their kit sponsor in 2023, India have tried to keep their jerseys updated on a regular basis. India had special kits for the men’s ODI World Cup last year and the T20 World Cup earlier this year. The men’s team also celebrated India’s T20 World Cup triumph in Mumbai, wearing a specially designed kit for the bus parade.
India’s training kits have also attracted attention. The white polo with blue collar that India have been using for their training sessions and media interactions in Australia has become a fan favourite.
The Indian men’s cricket team wore the white polo when it was hosted by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the Parliament House in Canberra on Thursday, November 28.
